SEGA has shared a new teaser trailer for Sonic Frontiers, showing the first gameplay footage for the blue blur’s upcoming adventure – set against music from composer Tomoya Ohtani.

“Enjoy this small preview of Sonic Frontiers, and tune into IGN all June long as Sonic Frontiers will be the IGN First cover story,” SEGA explains. “Look forward to seeing everything from world-exclusive gameplay reveals to the first ever hands-on impressions, to interviews with the game’s creators and more! Everything kicks off on June 1st at 9am Pacific / 12pm Eastern time.”

Revealed at The Game Awards 2021, the iconic blue blur will star in his “first-ever open-zone-inspired gaming experience” which has been led by producer Sachiko Kawamura and director Morio Kishimoto.

With the chance to explore the visually stunning, open-zone realm called Starfall Islands, you can “accelerate to new heights and experience the thrill of high-velocity open-zone freedom” – landscapes packed with dense forests, overflowing waterfalls, sizzling deserts and more.

SEGA recently revealed that the game was originally planned for a 2021 release, but was delayed “to improve the quality of the title.”

Sonic Frontiers will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Holiday 2022.
