Sidebar Games has confirmed that Sports Story has been delayed, the upcoming sequel to Golf Story.

“We must sadly announce a delay,” the developer wrote. “We want to take some more time to work on Sports Story and ensure that everything makes it into the game.

“The game has become rather ambitious and we are excited about how it could turn out. But the price is currently being paid as we try to make our plans into reality. We are eager to reveal the results of these past two years so please look forward to future updates.”

Sports Story remains to be “a game about sports, but not always,” promising a golfing adventure “in both ordinary and fantastical places.”

You will have the chance to study at a renowned tennis academy or to compete in the Decasportathon – making friends and enemies in your continued quest for sporting excellence.

There are non-sporting pursuits, too, with activities such as dungeon exploration, stealthy infiltrations, and fishing expeditions.

Sports Story will release exclusively on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
