Sonic Generations 3DS release date confirmed

Setting the record straight following rumours that it had seen a delay into 2012, SEGA have today announced the release dates for the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations.

The game, whose release marks the speedy blue hero’s 20th anniversary, will launch across North America on November 22nd and Europe on November 25th.

This handheld version is being co-developed by Sonic Team and Dimps, who previously developed Sonic Advance, Sonic Rush and Sonic Colours, and provides 2D side-scrolling gameplay featuring both Classic and Modern Sonics. The former incorporates momentum-based gameplay and platforming, whereas the latter is more similar to the Sonic Rush series and Sonic Colours.

Confirmed levels include Green Hill Zone and Casino Night Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Special Stages also make a return.
