A rumour had swirled that Pokémon, Mario and The Legend of Zelda would headline the Nintendo NX launch window line-up, and, while the presence of such iconic brands was entirely expected, we now have more confirmation.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara shared: “The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a handheld device,” adding that the company “will make games for the NX.”

Nintendo NX is scheduled to launch worldwide in March 2017, but Nintendo is still to announce any information relating to the dedicated game platform. Steering clear of PlayStation Meeting 2016 earlier this month, it is expected that the console will be revealed in early October.

The most credible rumour has suggested that it is a portable, handheld console with detachable controllers, that can be placed into a docking station in order to allow it output to a TV.
