Nintendo Switch Likely Facing Stock Shortages This Holiday

Nintendo Switch has been met with considerable demand in the six months since launch, and, while Nintendo has promised to do everything that they can to scale up production, it is likely that the console will continue to see stock shortages this holiday.

Speaking at Variety’s Entertainment and Technology Summit, Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime admitted that while the company is on track to sell 10 million Nintendo Switch consoles by the end of their fiscal year, they may still be hit with supply issues.

“Certainly the demand is there, and our supply chain is there” Fils-Aime explained, in meeting that milestone, but he did not want to promise that they could meet the demand for the holiday season. “Are we going to have enough for the holiday? That’s what we are focused on.”

There’s plenty to be excited about, too, with Pokkén Tournament DX, Fire Emblem Warriors, Super Mario Odyssey, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 from Nintendo alone in the coming months.
