Nintendo’s foray into the toys-to-life category with their amiibo figures is proving enormously successful, and, while slightly marred by stock shortages, is looking set to help return the company to profit this year.
Since they launched on November 21st, Nintendo of America have shared that amiibo sales are “approximately equal” to those of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. With the mascot brawler’s sales nearing 710,000 units across the pond, we can estimate that, at $12.99 each, that means that amiibo has generated $9.22 million in sales so far for the company – set to be boosted further by incoming waves.
Link, Mario and Pikachu (in that order) are apparently the best-selling figures so far, meaning that even the thick yellow stand isn’t swaying anyone from purchasing the Hylian hero.
