With J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. Entertainment announcing a new film series based upon Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, eager fans can also look forward to seeing the partnership deliver a game based upon the spin-off.

Whilst details at this time are light as to what the game will involve, or even which consoles it will release on, Rowling was keen to explain that the film itself “is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world.

“The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”

Regardless, the announcement has caught the world’s attention, especially to those who wondered whether the franchise would return after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 hit cinemas two years ago.
