NIS America and Nihon Falcom have confirmed that Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will release for Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021.

That means that it will hit the portable home console later than the PlayStation 4 version, which will release around the world in February 2020.

In this action role-playing game, renowned adventurer Adol Christin and his companion Dogi arrive at the Prison City of Balduq.

The city has been annexed by the Romun Empire, and Adol is soon detained once he steps inside its walls.

While imprisoned he meets the mysterious Aprilis who turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural gifts and the power to exorcise monsters.

Now, Adol must team up with other Monstrums to defeat the fearsome threats that have started to emerge from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox.

This quest will also see him discover the mysteries behind the Monstrum curse, as well as the truth about the unrest within Balduq.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will release at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Summer 2021.
