Yes, Isabelle Will Be In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

She may have been battling it out with other mascots in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but Nintendo has confirmed that Isabelle will appear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, there’s a catch.

“If Tom Nook is a great recruiter, and if he succeeds with the Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package PR, then she may come back,” game director Aya Kyogoku explained to IGN.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will set out on an ultra-exclusive Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package.

This promises you the chance to enjoy a peaceful existence full of creativity, charm and the freedom to roll up your sleeves and make your new life whatever you want it to be.

That will see you collect resources so that you can craft everything from creature comforts to handy tools, working to set up a homestead that can be freely decorated – both inside and out.

In order to progress, you must improve the island, and, with this, producer Hisashi Nogami added that Isabelle’s appearance “may” depend on how much debt you have paid back to Tom Nook.

And, while you aren’t required to upgrade your tent, Kyogoku explained that Tom Nook will not make certain facilities available to you if you don’t.

“If the player chooses to stay in the tent, Tom Nook may say ‘Hey, actually, that guy likes living more of an outdoorsy, wild life,’” Kyogoku added. “So he may not see the necessity of adding new resident support services. But then if you do upgrade to a house, he may see a need for some sort of new facility.”

In relation to this, Nogami gave the example that if someone were to live quietly in the mountains, you wouldn’t expect a convenience store to suddenly be built next to their house.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 20th March 2020.
