After Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokkén Tournament DX, it would appear that Nintendo isn’t entirely against porting Wii U games to Nintendo Switch as long as they can improve upon them in some way.
With Xenoblade Chronicles 2 targeting release later in the year, Monolith Soft founder Tetsuya Takahashi was asked whether he would consider porting Xenoblade Chronicles X, seeing as it could only reach a limited audience on Wii U.
“I think we’re currently completely focused on creating Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and even after I go back to Japan, I have a mountain of tasks that I need to overcome,” Takahashi explained to TIME. “But I would love to think about it, after the development for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is completed.”
There had been a rumour that Nintendo had hired a third-party developer to port the Wii U exclusive to Nintendo Switch, although, so far, there has been no indication that was true.
We’d certainly feel that it would be worth porting, concluding in our review: “With Xenoblade Chronicles widely seen as a swansong on Wii, it surpassed every expectation of what could be achieved on the console. There are certainly strong parallels to observe in Xenoblade Chronicles X and, regardless of whatever the next year holds, it will be forever cherished as one of Wii U’s greats.”
If this does happen, the text in the game simply must be made larger. I remember squinting at my tv to read dialogue and action prompts.
Agreed. Might also be nice if they completed the game as the game ends completely unresolved with a hint towards a sequel.
