Japanese composer Yasunori Mitsuda has revealed on his personal diary that he is preparing for a large-scale recording session for Xenoblade Chronicles 2‘s soundtrack.

He explains that while five composers have been involved in the project, he has been responsible for compiling all the sheet music for the recording. With Mitsuda now noticing the scale of the score that they have collectively penned, he suggests that he may have to hire an assistant to help him deal with the workload more quickly.

Mitsuda is acclaimed for the music that he composed for Chrono Trigger, a game that he was famously assigned to after threatening Hironobu Sakaguchi that he would quit his role as a sound effects designer.

He has had a storied career ever since, writing for games as varied as Mario Party, Bomberman 64: The Second Attack, Inazuma Eleven, Xenoblade Chronicles, three tracks for Kid Icarus: Uprising, Valkyria Revolution, and now, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on which he has once again collaborated with ACE, Kenji Hiramatsu and Manami Kiyota.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2017.
