Whilst unsurprising news, Nintendo have confirmed that their forthcoming Wii U console will be “restricted by a region-lock feature.”
Such news had originally emerged in the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, yet received further confirmation later by Nintendo UK to Eurogamer.
“What can be played on the Wii U is restricted by a region-lock feature; software not sold in the same region cannot be played,” Famitsu had shared.
Having taken similar stances with the Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS and Wii, such a decision had largely been expected yet never officially confirmed. Now it has.
