Ubisoft have announced that they have pulled “sexy” party game We Dare from release within both the United Kingdom and the United States.
“Following the public reaction to the 12+ rating of We Dare, Ubisoft has made the decision not to sell the game in the United Kingdom,” commented an Ubisoft spokesperson to The Telegraph.
Such a decision had been prompted by a hugely negative response to PEGI’s decision to award the game a 12+ rating.
PEGI themselves explained its reasoning behind the rating earlier, saying that it judged games on their content rather than context. “The game is in fact less sexual/offensive than the marketing campaign leads us to believe,” the company commented in a statement.
It was last week that Ubisoft stated that We Dare would “absolutely not” see a release within the United States.
We Dare was due to release today for the Wii, across the United Kingdom.
