Assassin’s Creed III will prove “a great time for gamers to join the adventure”, Ubisoft have stated.
Despite being the fifth instalment within the series it marks the first true sequel since Assassin’s Creed II, introducing an entirely new setting and central protagonist.
“This is a great time for gamers to join the adventure,” Rob Cooper, Ubisoft’s UK Managing Director explained to MCV. “There’s a huge will from Ubisoft to bring more gamers into this universe”.
He continued, “Assassin’s Creed III is the biggest and most ambitious launch in Ubisoft’s history so we absolutely believe this game will continue to grow the franchise”.
Powered by a new game engine, Ubisoft-AnvilNext, players will assume the role of Ratohnaké:ton, a Native American of English heritage, in a storyline set during the Revolutionary War. Adopting the name Connor, this new protagonist joins the war for liberty, spanning locales from colonial towns to chaotic battlefields.
Assassin’s Creed III was confirmed for Wii U at the beginning of this week, and is rumoured to support an online co-operative mode for up to four players.
