Tom Nook Gives Your Bells Back To The Community In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Nintendo believes that Tom Nook is misunderstood, and, beneath his financially-driven raccoon exterior, he’s actually a really good guy at heart.

He never charges interest on the loans that he lends to players, and never badgers anyone to pay them back more quickly – even if they’re never paid off.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the animals that join you on your island will also be in debt to Tom Nook – seeing as they also bought the Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package – but he reinvests the Bells that you pay back into the community.

“Tom Nook, this time around, he has this place called Resident Services. He tirelessly works 24 hours making sure that all the residents on the island are happy and are living a good life,” game director Aya Kyogoku explained to IGN.

“Whenever Tom receives those debts paid back from the residents and the players, I think that because these resident services upgrade as time goes on, I think he’s investing that money toward the Resident Service for the residents.”

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will set out on an ultra-exclusive Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package.

This promises you the chance to enjoy a peaceful existence full of creativity, charm and the freedom to roll up your sleeves and make your new life whatever you want it to be.

That will see you collect resources so that you can craft everything from creature comforts to handy tools, working to set up a homestead that can be freely decorated – both inside and out.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 20th March 2020.
