Gameforge and Asylum Square have confirmed a release date for the retro-inspired Tiny Thor, which will release on Nintendo Switch next month.
To be released under its new IndieForge publishing label, you will have the chance to wield the “bouncy” power of Mjölnir as the small but mighty Norse god of thunder. You will be able to “perform epic trick shots, throwing it against the map to take them out in increasingly inventive ways.”
With thrilling boss battles and tricky physics puzzles to overcome across more than 30 handcrafted levels, you will need to trickshot any enemy that dares get in your way as you adventure around Asgard.
With 16-bit pixel art from veteran pixel artist Henk Nieborg (Spyro: A Hero’s Tail, Contra 4, Shantae series), the experience is accompanied by a soundtrack from composer Chris Hülsbeck (Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Turrican).
“We’re very happy that the mightiest, but tiniest, god of thunder is making his way onto the Nintendo Switch,” enthuses Asylum Square co-founder Jochen Heizmann. “Not only does it open up Tiny Thor to a whole new audience, but the ability to take his adventure on the go means that you can embody the diminutive demigod and continue his quest from anywhere.”
Tiny Thor lead producer Flavio Canciani adds: “Our excitement for the Switch release has us bouncing like mini-Mjölnir. We’ve seen the hugely positive response to the PC release and are so happy that PC players are enjoying Thor’s quest. Now it’s time to bring the wondrous journey to Switch, where we sincerely hope that console players will enjoy Thor’s adventure too.”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- It’s Hammer Time!: Use the ricocheting mini-Mjölnir and its special abilities to complete puzzles and defeat enemies
- Small, But Mighty: Triumph in epic boss battles against Norse mythology icons such as the Kraken and Loki
- Old School, New Game: Art from veteran pixel artist Henk Nieborg and an original soundtrack from Chris Hülsbeck enhances the game’s retro credentials
Tiny Thor will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 3 August 2023.
