NIS America and Nihon Falcom have confirmed a release date for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III on Nintendo Switch.

The first game in the celebrated role-playing series to hit the portable home console, it promises to invite “players into a world full of intrigue and excitement that is years in the making.”

Nearly a year and a half has passed since the Erebonian civil war, and much has changed in that time. Whether that be the shifting stances of countries to the internal politics of the Empire, the “shadows of the past have given way to the embers of a new chapter.”

Rean Schwarzer has now graduated from Thors Military and become an instructor at the Thors Branch Campus. He must lead a new Class VII, and guide a new generation of heroes into an unknown future.

With the nefarious Ouroboros organisation continuing to weave a dark plot that could engulf the entire continent in war, you will set out to explore the never-before-seen lands of the recently expanded Erebonian countryside.

There will be 26 cosmetic items made available as free downloadable content for those that buy the game on the portable home console.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III will release for Nintendo Switch across Europe and North America on 30th June 2020 and in Oceania on 7th July 2020.
