The Amazing Spider-Man Games Removed From Nintendo eShop

The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are “no longer available to purchase in Nintendo eShop,” presumably after Activision’s license agreement with Marvel Comics has expired.

Both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions have been removed without warning overnight, now only available at retailers that still have stock. The PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store have been similarly affected, although, at the time of writing, Spider-Man Dimensions on Xbox 360 remains available.

The removal happened as Sony Interactive Entertainment prepares to publish PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man this year, which is in development at Insomniac Games.

We enjoyed our time with The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition, concluding in our review: “The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition is an enjoyable, if not perfect, turn for Marvel’s arachnid-infused hero, and delivers a welcome addition to the Wii U’s expanding software library.”
