Pitched as “a witty, raw tale of a club bouncer navigating a dystopian city of freaks and underground rave clubs,” playing as the bouncer you will decide who gets to enter the Green Door club and party until sunrise.
Those who don’t make the cut will often object to your decision, and that’s when the “banter” part of the game’s title will kick in. You will need to select “the wittiest and most clever insults and clapbacks” in an effort to chase them away.
The game’s soundscape and gritty art style heavily take their influence from the Berlin techno scene – felt in Rainbow Drive and the Green Door club’s neon-drenched designs – and its “climatic, bass-heavy and BPM-rich soundtrack” crammed with tracks composed by real-life DJs who are veterans of famous Berlin clubs such as Tresor or Berghain.
Techno Banter will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide “later this year.”
