Super Mario Party Unplayable In Handheld Mode

Super Mario Party Preview Header

Nintendo has confirmed that Super Mario Party is unplayable in Handheld mode on Nintendo Switch, that, while understandable, will likely come as a disappointment to many.

With the party game coming packed with 80 new minigames that will use the Joy-Con controllers in all sorts of different ways, we have known for a few weeks that you will be unable to play with the Joy-Con Grip or Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

You will, therefore, need four Joy-Con to let everyone have the chance to get in on the multiplayer madness. For this, you can play in TV mode and Tabletop mode, but, with the reliance on accelerometer and gyroscope housed in every Joy-Con, Handheld mode is off limits.

Super Mario Party will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on October 5th.
