Nintendo has released an extensive software update for Splatoon 2, that sees the ink-based shooter now on version 4.0.0.
This has made changes to Splatfest battles which will now be in Normal and Pro categories, modified the Starfish Mainstage, Snapper Canal and Piranha Pit stages, and tweaked some main, sub and special weapons.
Beyond that, there are broad changes to Salmon Run, Spectator Mode, Single Player, Octo Expansion and other minor tweaks.
It also introduces the first set of new weapons in the Kensa Collection, which have been painted with stylish monotone designs. Then, when update version 4.1.0 lands in early October, you can expect a new stage, new songs and more Kensa Collection weapon sets complete with new sub and special weapons.
Splatoon 2 is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
