Inklings around the world have been kicked out of Splatoon 2, after the ink-based shooter was hit with emergency server maintenance.

The maintenance affects all network services with the Nintendo Switch exclusive and started at 10.05pm GMT on Friday 24th November, and it is currently unknown as to when whatever issue has been spotted will be resolved.

“Service is currently suspended due to emergency server maintenance,” Nintendo has confirmed in a server operational status message. “We apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience.”

It will come as a disappointment to many, who, like ourselves, were enjoying the new content that has been released as part of the major update that was released for the game earlier today.

That includes new hairstyles, new gear, new battle tunes, the chance to swap gear between battles in the lobby, and the new Salmon Run stage Salmonid Smokeyard – with the new MakoMart stage arriving tomorrow.
