Yacht Club Games has announced that Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove has sold more than two million copies worldwide, an impressive milestone that has been some 26 months after it was first released.

Breaking those sales down further, the top five platforms were PC (24.4 percent), Nintendo 3DS (23.9 percent), Switch (17.6 percent), Wii U (14.3 percent), and PlayStation 4 (9.1 percent).

Even the developer was surprised to see that Nintendo Switch became the game’s third best-selling platform so quickly, with around 370,000 copies having been sold on the portable home console.

Nintendo Switch has also become the fastest-selling platform, with the 110,000 copies sold during the game’s launch month outpacing the 70,000 copies that were achieved on PC.

“We all did it! We’ve now sold 2 million copies of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. Whoah! We’re starting to think people might be enjoying this thing… nuts! Just 18 months after its original debut, Shovel Knight surpassed one million copies sold total,” the developer explained in an update.

“Since then, the road to 2 million has been arduous but at the very end of February, an extensive 26 months later, we reached a colossal milestone! Thank you, everyone, for your unbelievable support! It is so inspiring that people still pick up, play, and fall in love with Shovel Knight for the first time every day.
