Yacht Club Games have shared that Shovel Knight has now sold more than 700,000 copies worldwide, although took the opportunity to reveal more significant news.
The indie developer has now “joined the world of physical publishing,” teaming up with distributor U&I Entertainment to ship a physical version of their critically-acclaimed platformer to retailers across North America and Europe.
By the time of release, Shovel Knight’s physical version will contain the original campaign, first content update Plague of Shadows, and a Challenge mode. As with the digital version, it will also receive Specter Knight’s Campaign, King Knight’s Campaign, Battle Mode (Wii U only) and Body Swap Mode when those free additional updates roll out beyond launch.
Shovel Knight will release at retail for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in North America on October 13th, and in Europe on October 16th.
