ATLUS has announced that the release date for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has been brought forward a week.

This is pitched as the “definitive version of the critically acclaimed Shin Megami Tensei V,” where after the protagonist discovers a grisly murder scene on his walk home through modern-day Tokyo, an unplanned detour leaves him buried and unconscious.

Waking in a wasteland ravaged by apocalypse now called Da’at, before bloodthirsty demons can claim his life a saviour emerges and they unite to become a Nahobino – a mighty being, neither human nor demon.

This “full-fledged RPG” can be enjoyed by existing and new fans, as it delivers a new story path that was untold in the original game, along with new areas, demons and music. You can also expect “more accessible gameplay, an improved battle system, new demon experiences and greater field exploration.”

At the start of the game, you will be able to choose between two paths: Canon of Creation, which is the story told in the original Shin Megami Tensei V; or Canon of Vengeance, which is a “dramatic new tale of revenge [that] introduces brand-new characters, an enigmatic cohort of demons called the Qadištu, a new dungeon and map to explore.”

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 14 June 2024.
