Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is currently in development for release on the Nintendo eShop, it has been confirmed.
WayForward’s latest project is revealed within the penultimate issue of Nintendo Power, and will see Shantae form an uneasy alliance with her nemesis, Risky Boots.
She’ll unlock and upgrade pirate weapons, such as swords and cannons, with throwing knives providing footholds for climbing and a flintlock pistol allowing you to trigger switches.
Levels will once again be interconnected and non-linear (think Metroid or Castlevania), with a map allowing you to keep track of areas that you’ve visited.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will release through the Nintendo eShop in 2013.
