Those that have seen the Nintendo Switch preview trailer will have seen that Mario Kart was used as a way to demonstrate the home gaming system’s portable possibilities.

Now, Nintendo tipster Emily Rogers has shared that development on the game has actually been completed and that it is planned to release within the first three months after Nintendo Switch launches.

This will contain all content that came with Mario Kart 8, as well as the downloadable content that was later released for the Wii U exclusive. There will be more beyond that, however, with Nintendo listening to the criticism directed at the lacklustre Battle Mode, while adding new playable characters and tracks.

“According to sources close to Nintendo, the Switch version of Mario Kart 8 will feature tons of exclusive content including brand new tracks, new playable characters, and a new-and-improved battle mode,” Rogers shared in a blog post. “That’s right, Nintendo listened to everyone’s criticisms about Mario Kart 8’s battle mode.”

Nintendo Switch will release worldwide in March 2017.
