Koei Tecmo has announced Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi, the next entry in their turn-based grand strategy role-playing simulation series.
This will take place in the Sengoku period when daimyō, powerful Japanese feudal lords, used their will to rule over their people. That will see them work together and, at times, collide, as they work to expand the nation. Oda Nobunaga was among them, often revered as the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven, who sought to unify the entire country. That dream soon disappeared when he was betrayed by Akechi Mitsuhide.
With 3D and nationwide maps now packing more detail, it is a new Will System that is central to the game. Each character will have their own unique Will that will influence how they act, the commands you will use and the tactics that you must choose.
The development team hopes that this will help make it feel like you are working against people, with every action that you take leading you to your eventual goal. As you approach that goal, if you are seen to be harmful then the people will view the daimyō as an enemy, at which point you will have to work around the consequences.
Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi will release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in Japan later this year.
