WayForward and Arc System Works have announced that River City Girls will release on Nintendo Switch this September.
This upcoming co-op beat ’em-up is based on the classic River City series and promises to “offer a new generation of old-school action” compared to what fans have come to expect.
The story is brought to life with anime cutscenes and manga-style intermissions and challenges street-tough high-schoolers Kyoko and Misako to fight their way through River City’s six regions to rescue their kidnapped boyfriends, Kunio and Riki.
Whether playing solo or teaming up in local co-op multiplayer, you must use combos, counters, throws, and special attacks to beat down the enemies that you are confronted with.
Set to an epic synth-pop soundtrack, you can also spend your time completing side quests, earning experience points to level up, or interact with NPCs that will include guest stars from past River City games.
River City Girls will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on September 5th, priced at $29.99.
