The Pokémon Company International has announced that the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Online Illustration Exhibition is now open.

From today until Sunday 23rd October 2022, you can freely access a digital gallery of illustrations that span more than 26 years of Pokémon online at its official website.

Available in 10 languages, you can view close-ups of the wondrous artwork created for hundreds of Pokémon TCG cards in three categories:

  • “Life” focuses on the lives of Pokémon and shows them in a variety of different habitats.
  • “History” looks back at over 26 years of the Pokémon Trading Card Game from 1996, when the very first set launched in Japan, until present day.
  • “Artist” showcases illustrations from several specific Pokémon TCG artists, each with a unique artistic style.

You can also read commentary from 50 artists who have each picked one Pokémon TCG card that they drew the illustration for, sharing their memories and creative process behind the art that they created.

Japanese illustrator Takumi Wada – who created artwork for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – has designed three Pokémon TCG card illustrations which will be revealed for the first time as part of the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Online Illustration Exhibition.

“It’s a lot of pressure to draw Illustrations for the long-lasting Pokémon (TCG), but I am honoured to be given the opportunity to show the lives and the world of Pokémon,” Mr Wada explains. “It would make me happy if my illustrations could make you feel even a little bit closer to Pokémon.”

The three card illustrations will be revealed through the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Online Illustration Exhibition website on Tuesday 23rd August, Wednesday 7th September and Thursday 22nd September 2022.
