The Pokémon Company and Creatures Inc. have confirmed a release date for Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic, which was revealed to mark Pokémon Day earlier this year.

This collaboration with nendo is pitched as a “premium Pokémon TCG set that is designed to last a lifetime,” coming with a foldable, portable two-player game board which has card placement zones for your Active Pokémon, Benched Pokémon, deck, discard pile, and Prize cards. With a compartment at the board’s centre, it can hold up to three decks and a toolbox with the accessories that you need to battle.

Coming with three specially constructed decks featuring Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, these will have “newly printed cards to go alongside the classics, letting you form new strategies with never-before-seen cards like Ho-Oh ex and Lugia ex.” Except for Basic Energy cards, it has been confirmed that the cards in these decks are not legal for tournament play.

Meanwhile, inside the toolbox you will find stackable damage counters, three-dimensional Poison and Burn markers, and metal orbs that take the place of Pokémon coins. You can roll these metal orbs down a small chute at the centre of the toolbox – if it lands in a white-bordered hole it’s treated as heads, and if it lands in a black-bordered hole it is treated as tails.

Inside Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic, you will find:

  • A high-quality game board featuring card placement zones on a premium fabric surface, plus a compartment that holds up to three decks and a toolbox complete with all the gameplay accessories needed for battling.
  • An all-inclusive toolbox containing enough gameplay accessories for two players to battle, including stackable damage counters, three-dimensional Poison and Burn markers and metal orbs that take the place of Pokémon coins.
  • Intuitive damage counters and Special Condition markers designed with bright colors and unique conical and ring shapes, allowing players to quickly calculate total damage and identify Special Conditions.
  • Elegant card sleeves and deck boxes thoughtfully crafted to maintain visual focus on the card artwork while protecting the three preconstructed decks and allowing for easy storage of sleeved cards when not in use.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic will be made available through the Pokémon Center and at local game stores on 17 November 2023.
