The Pokémon Company International has confirmed a release date for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG): Scarlet and Violet – Paradox Rift expansion.
“Dive into the clouds and explore a land that appears to be unbound by time! With ferocious attacks, Ancient Pokémon like Roaring Moon ex and Sandy Shocks ex appear alongside artificial Future Pokémon like Iron Valiant ex and Iron Hands ex,” the expansion’s pitch reads.
“Meanwhile, Garchomp ex, Mewtwo ex and others Terastallize to gain new types, as Armarouge ex, Gholdengo ex, and more Pokémon ex join the fray. Adventure awaits as timelines collide in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet – Paradox Rift expansion!”
As revealed at the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, this expansion will introduce Ancient and Future Pokémon and Trainer cards.
“Embodying toughness and power, Ancient Pokémon tend to have direct attacks that do a lot of damage, and they’re more difficult to Knock Out,” The Pokémon Company International explained in a press release. “Harnessing speed and technique, Future Pokémon tend to have Abilities and attacks with extra effects that allow for clever maneuvers and crafty strategy.”
Alongside these, you can expect Ancient Trainer cards that tend to assist Ancient Pokémon, whereas Future Trainer cards will assist Future Pokémon. Technical Machines will also return in this upcoming expansion, appearing as new Pokémon Tool cards that allow access to a new attack while attached.
The expansion will include 13 Pokémon ex, seven Tera Pokémon ex, 34 illustration rare Pokémon, 15 special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards, 28 ultra rare full-art etched Pokémon ex and Supporter cards and seven hyper rare gold etched cards.
Scarlet and Violet – Paradox Rift will be available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and special collections at Pokémon Center online and participating retailers worldwide. Equipped with two additional booster packs and one additional illustration rare style promo card featuring the Pokémon Center logo, the Scarlet and Violet – Paradox Rift Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box is available for preorder now for Trainers in the US, Canada and UK alongside other products from the expansion.
In addition, ahead of the release of the tabletop version, Trainers will be able to play with Scarlet and Violet – Paradox Rift digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows devices on 2 November 2023.
The Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet – Paradox Rift expansion will be released at participating retailers worldwide on 3 November 2023.
