The Pokémon Company International has revealed that past starter Pokémon will appear in The Indigo Disk, which is the second downloadable content for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

That will see Pokémon Red and Blue’s Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, Pokémon Gold and Silver’s Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire’s Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl’s Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup, Pokémon Black and White’s Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott, Pokémon X and Y’s Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie, Pokémon Sun and Moon’s Rowlet, Litten and Popplio, and Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble all make a return appearance in the Paldea region.

“First partner Pokémon from past titles in the core Pokémon series are appearing in spades in the Terarium housed within Blueberry Academy, the setting of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk,” The Pokémon Company International explains.

“The Terarium is a facility that re-creates a variety of biomes—from the tropics to icy seas—where many different Pokémon live and thrive in the environment best suited to them. You might even get the rare chance to see first partner Pokémon as they live in the wild.

“Of course, you can also battle these Pokémon to try adding them to your team, and you’ll be able to see how the Terastal phenomenon—familiar to all those who have played Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet—looks on these old friends!”

In Part 2: The Indigo Disk, you will have the chance to study abroad at the Blueberry Academy, which is home to a facility called the Terarium Dome. This maintains a variety of ecosystems that provide a livable environment for Pokémon.

This world-renowned park beneath the sea was constructed to bolster the learning environment for strong Trainers. The Terarium Dome is made up of four areas, each of which features a unique climate and ecosystem. The artificial sky projected onto the ceiling and walls changes to reflect the time of day and weather. The temperature of each area is also carefully regulated, and Trainers will find completely different Pokémon in each area.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask is planned for release on 13 September 2023, and Part 2: The Indigo Disk will release in Winter 2023.
