No New Skylanders Game In 2017

Skylanders Imaginators will release on Nintendo Switch next month, adding a digital character library although snubs support for Traps and vehicles. But, those hoping for a brand new adventure in the magical Skylands this year will be disappointed.

Activision announced in their fourth quarter 2016 financial results conference call that they will only release new toys and digital content for Skylanders Imaginators in 2017, perhaps recognising the successful model that LEGO Dimensions has adopted.

Introducing the chance to use the power of your imagination to create your own characters, Skylanders Imaginators was met favourably by critics – sat with a 97 Metascore on Metacritic.

The company did share that Netflix has ordered a third season of the Skylanders Academy series, which has been created by Activision Blizzard Studios. The second season will release in 2017, with the third season to arrive in 2018 we can presume.

Skylanders Imaginators will release on Nintendo Switch worldwide in March 2017.
