Nintendo Universe is pleased to announce plans to launch a free, monthly digital magazine.

Set to attend the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the full-fledged magazine will launch toward the end of June and will provide extensive coverage of the latest software, hardware and accessories that will be on the show floor, focusing upon Nintendo’s anticipated reveal of the Wii U.

To coincide with such announcement, a preview issue has been made available today which can be viewed on Issuu or embedded below, outlining the initial concept for its finalised design.

Within, you will find coverage of recent and upcoming releases including Mario Tennis Open, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Pandora’s Tower and Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure.

“It’s a particularly exciting time not only for Nintendo Universe and the new direction we’re undertaking, but also for fans worldwide eagerly awaiting Nintendo to, at long last, lift the lid on their Wii U plans,” said Nintendo Universe’s editor Alex Seedhouse.

“I have been contemplating a free digital magazine for quite some time, and felt that attending E3 this year will provide a fantastic springboard to ensure our debut issue will be packed with great content.”

We’re keen to hear your feedback regarding the magazine, which still isn’t finalised, so please email me ([email protected]) your thoughts about you would like us to add or expand upon.

  1. Great job, guys! The magazine looks well-designed and appealing. All the best with future issues. Just a note, though: Inazuma Eleven has not released in NA.

  2. That looks… really nice! All you guys need is some exclusive stories (to get coverage from other sites) and boom, you’re set to go! Oh, and ebook versions on services such as Amazon or iTunes would be nice.

    1. Thanks, much appreciated! We’re aiming to build our audience from when the launch issue arrives in June, so will look at various avenues for publication – currently contemplating iBooks, but not sure about how to approach Amazon!
