Nintendo of America has announced that more than 735,000 Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite consoles were sold across the United States in October 2020.

That resulted in growth of 136 percent when compared to the same month in 2019, meaning that the company could celebrate the portable home console’s “strongest October sales yet.”

Further to this, the Nintendo Switch sales “are the second-highest October sales of any video game console in history,” only being outperformed by the 807,000 Wii consoles that were sold in October 2008.

More than 22.5 million Nintendo Switch consoles have been sold in the United States, and the portable home console continues to set records in remaining the “the best-selling video game console for 23 consecutive months.” This has seen it outperform any other console in history within the country.

“Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite continue to provide one-of-a-kind gaming experiences on the TV or on the go, allowing holiday shoppers the choice of a video game system that matches their lifestyle,” explains Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser.

“Seeing encouraging sales growth like this in the fourth October of Nintendo Switch proves to us that the system has many more years and great games yet to come.”

Nintendo will look to continue to maintain this sales momentum with a new Nintendo Switch bundle for Black Friday. Priced at $299.99, this will include the console, a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a three-month membership to the Nintendo Switch Online service.
