Summer Game Fest frontman Geoff Keighley has teased that Nintendo Switch console exclusive games will be shown in the hotly-anticipated live stream later this week.

However, while the journalist and presenter is excited about the showcase’s return, he warned that much of what will be shown is for games that have already been announced and that viewers should not hold out for as many “megaton shocks” as they have come to expect.

“What I would say is that a lot of the games we’re going to show you are going to be announced games,” Keighley explained in Twitter Space audio conversation. “We’ve got a couple of new game announcements in the show, and some surprises if everything holds.”

He continued: “We’re going to have some good stuff for you, but definitely manage your expectations in terms of the megaton shocks that you’re expecting. This is not The Game Awards and we’ve got some good stuff to show you. ‘Buyer beware’ of some of the crazy rumours I’m seeing out there in terms of things people expect to get announced.”

After his introduction, Keighley then invited questions from those participating – soon asked what Nintendo Switch-related news viewers could expect from the showcase.

“In Summer Game Fest you will definitely hear from, you know, games that will be available on Switch,” he responded. “I think one that comes to mind is Cuphead: Delicious Last Course in the show – that is obviously coming to Switch as well as to all the other platforms. There are other games that are in the show as well that will be coming, even as Switch console exclusive games that we’ll be showcasing that may also be coming to PC and things like that.

“We’ll definitely have some good stuff. In terms of Nintendo, I’ll let them announce their plans when they’re ready to announce them. Nintendo always has its own cadence. I’m not even privy to exactly what Nintendo is doing, but we’d love to have them involved in the Summer Game Fest if and when they’re ready.”

Pitched as a “digital-first, global fan celebration of video games,” Summer Game Fest will be streamed live and for free around the world from 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 6 pm GMT on Thursday 10th June.

The two-hour showcase promises viewers to see “world premieres, gameplay demos and news on some of the most highly anticipated games from more than 30 developers and publishers,” and will be broadcast at IMAX theatres in the United States and Canada.
