Nintendo have detailed two new Battle modes set to appear within Pokémon Black and White, the first games in the fifth generation of the core series.

Dubbed Triple Battles and Random Matchup, the former allows you to battle with your Pokémon in three vs three matches, whereas the latter utilises the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to provide the chance to battle random PokéTrainers from around the world.

Whilst in previous Pokémon titles, players would have to exchange Friend Codes with other players to battle across the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, with the new Random Matchup mode this restriction is now a thing of the past. You can catch a video of both Battle modes in action below:

Pokémon Black and White are due to release for Nintendo DS in Europe on March 4th, and across North America on March 6th.
