Nintendo confirm Wii re-design, original model to be discontinued
Nintendo have confirmed that they are to release a new value Wii bundle that will feature a re-designed console, described by the company as being the “new configuration Wii.”
To feature a slightly altered configuration, this latest console is purposefully designed to sit horizontally rather than vertically. It is important to note that it will also lose compatibility with Nintendo GameCube software and accessories.
Nintendo further confirmed to Eurogamer: “In Europe we will focus on the new Wii Bundle’s going forward,” meaning that this hardware will be used to phase out its predecessor.
It will first appear in a bundle that includes the newly configured Wii console in white, a Wii Remote Plus controller, Nunchuk, and copies of Wii Sports and Wii Party. A number of other Wii bundles will be announced this autumn, all offering great value for the family this Christmas.
