The Pokémon Company International has teased a nineteenth Tera Type that will appear in The Indigo Disk, which is the second downloadable content for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

“The Terastal phenomenon first appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, and it grants Pokémon special power while also making them sparkle like brilliant jewels,” The Pokémon Company International explains.

“It plays an important role in battles. Terastallizing your Pokémon opens up a new world of strategy since it allows you to change your Pokémon’s type to its Tera Type, which can increase the power of moves with the same type or change your Pokémon’s weaknesses.

“And now, in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero for Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, a new Tera Type has been discovered—a nineteenth Tera Type. Something about it seems different from the eighteen Tera Types we’ve seen before, but much is yet unknown. What is the truth behind this nineteenth Tera Type?”

In Part 1: The Teal Mask, you will be able to meet the new Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon as well as three new pocket monsters called Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti. We know that these new Pokédex additions are “beloved by the people of the village as heroes that protected the land of Kitakami in the past and stone statues were made in their likeness to express the people’s gratitude.”

In Part 2: The Indigo Disk, you will have the chance to study abroad at the Blueberry Academy, which is home to a facility called the Terarium Dome. This maintains a variety of ecosystems that provide a livable environment for Pokémon.

This world-renowned park beneath the sea was constructed to bolster the learning environment for strong Trainers. The Terarium Dome is made up of four areas, each of which features a unique climate and ecosystem. The artificial sky projected onto the ceiling and walls changes to reflect the time of day and weather. The temperature of each area is also carefully regulated, and Trainers will find completely different Pokémon in each area.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask is planned for release on 13 September 2023, and Part 2: The Indigo Disk will release in Winter 2023.
