Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games have released a new trailer for Streets of Rage 4, confirming that the game is coming to Nintendo Switch.

This introduces a new character in the badass guitar-playing warrior, Cherry Hunter. She is Adam Hunter’s daughter, who appeared in the original Streets of Rage.

“Trained by her father and Axel, Cherry learned self-defense from a young age. Her interest in following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a cop soon faded out, replaced by her love of music,” the developer explains.

“Nowadays, she plays with her electro progressive rock band in some of the most dangerous places in Wood Oak City. She may look young but make no mistake – she is a seasoned veteran of kicking ass and taking names.”

With hand-drawn visuals from the team behind Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, the developers have looked to build on the cult classic trilogy’s gameplay “with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.”

You can either clean up the city on your own or team up with a friend to beat up the gangsters, in what is promised to be “a skull-bashing, chicken-chomping delight all set to a thumping soundtrack sure to get your blood pumping.”

Streets of Rage 4 will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
