From the developer behind the Professor Layton series, the game centres on a rookie detective called Harvard Marks who must hunt down criminals in a huge open-world crime-ridden city.
Working as part of the special investigations unit at Broadstone Police Center, he must use the detective training simulator Decasim to travel back and forth between physical and virtual reality.
Your investigations will take place in a virtual space, with the Decasim being a complete copy of a real city that is described as “a forbidden place where memories of every past crime lie dormant.” It isn’t entirely protected though, with the game’s reveal trailer showing how a mysterious hacker working in secret for a powerful corporation rewrites the program to turn Harvard into a cat.
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features as below:
- Collect all the evidence to uncover the truth: With the help of “DECASIM”, which can reproduce any event occurring in the city, you can find clues to solve cases in the real world. Clip the collected evidence to the “Case Board” and find the solution to crack the case.
- Force may be required to arrest culprits: When confronting a cornered criminal, it can be possible to appeal to their heart and make them surrender. Sometimes, however, they will turn into “Crime Beasts”, embodiments of malice, and attack. Make use of futuristic gimmicks to incapacitate and arrest them.
DECAPOLICE will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2023.
