With this year celebrating 20 years since the first Pokémon anime series was broadcast, Japanese fans will soon be able to catch Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! at cinemas across the country.

Looking to tap into early enthusiasm, Anime! Anime! ran a poll in which it had asked fans to name a past movie that they felt was the most memorable.

There are a fair few films that didn’t make the cut, even the most recent such as Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, and Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel.

They had 851 responses to the poll, with 90 percent of the participants being in their teens and twenties, and a 60-40 male to female ratio.

Here are their top 10 most memorable Pokémon movies:

10. Pokémon the Movie: Giratina and the Sky Warrior [Tied]
10. Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea [Tied]
9. Pokémon 3: The Movie
8. Pokémon 4Ever
7. Pokémon the Movie: Destiny Deoxys
