Super Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai has revealed Palutena and Mii Fighter as the latest additions to the playable character roster in the Wii U and 3DS iterations.
Palutena, the Goddess of Light, accompanies Pit as the second character to be plucked from the Kid Icarus games. The duo most recently appeared in 3DS exclusive Kid Icarus: Uprising, which is certainly worth a purchase for those yet to play it.
Whereas with the Mii Fighter, a player’s personalised creations become playable within the Super Smash Bros. series for the first time. Sakurai shares that he first look to incorporate Miis within 2008’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl, although decided against it in the end.
Mii Fighters come in three varieties: the Mii Brawler who fights empty-handed and prefers to be up, close and personal with their opponents; the Mii Swordfighter, who is a weapon master; and the Mii Gunner that has a mysterious arm cannon that can fire different projectiles. Each of the three classes has 12 special moves for players to choose from, allowing you to customise them to suit your play style.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS releases worldwide on October 3rd, with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U arriving in winter.
