The Pokémon Company has revealed that Michael Kaneko is the third artist to contribute to the Pokémon Music Collective, a collaboration with Universal Music Group to incorporate Pokémon sounds or music within songs.
Michael Kaneko’s song is called “1999,” which you can listen to through streaming services such as Spotify, YouTube Music or embedded below.
The Pokémon Music Collective campaign began last year, starting with Japanese singer-songwriter Imase‘s “Sing (うたう)” on 14 September 2022 which was followed by South Korean boy band Enhypen‘s “One and Only” on 11 July 2023.
This continues on from the P25 Music collaboration project, which saw The Pokémon Company International work with artists such as Katy Perry and Post Malone who performed for the Pokémon 25 Virtual Concert.
