Meta Knight returns in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS

Meta Knight will return to brawl in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, series creator Masahiro Sakurai has today confirmed.

Having first made a playable appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Kirby’s rival soon became a popular favourite due to an extremely fast attack speed in which he thrusts his sword, Galaxia, into action.

“Looks like there was an impostor in the earlier posts, so I introduced him to my sword! …I’ll leave it up to your imagination if he really said that or not. The veteran hero, Meta Knight, returns to battle!! We didn’t forget the Battleship Halberd either!!” Sakurai wrote on Miiverse.

“Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move.”

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS releases across Japan on September 13th, and in Europe and North America on October 3rd. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will follow worldwide this winter.
