Easter will see specialist retailer GAME partner with The Pokémon Company International to host a distribution event to promote Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game: XY expansion which launched back in February.

From Friday 4th April, players with Pokémon X can receive Magmar free upon request in all GAME stores across the United Kingdom, whilst those with Pokémon Y copies can claim Electabuzz. Both first appeared within the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, and come holding a Magmarizer and Electirizer item respectively. If traded whilst holding these items, Electabuzz will evolve into Electivire, and Magmar into Magmortar.

Alongside this, Pokémon Trading Card Game fans can also receive a free Pokémon TCG: XY special sampling pack while stocks last, which includes a special foil Pikachu card and an additional card from the Pokémon TCG: XY expansion.

The Pokémon Company International will support such promotion with a TV campaign to showcase how Pokémon TCG and the accompanying games are part of the same world, with spots airing on CiTV, Cartoon Network, Disney XD and Sky Kids between April 7th – April 27th.

  1. What’s the deal with magmar and electabuzz? They’re easily obtained via old games.

  2. Yes, they are available by transfer (and also in the Friend Safari), but as you cannot transfer items, the Magmarizer and Electirizer are only available through spending Battle Points in the Battle Maison. So I assume this is meant to allow people who haven’t completed the game (and so gained access to Kiloude City where the Maison is), or who haven’t had much success obtaining BP, can evolve them. As trade evolutions, they also encourage player interactions and sharing, which the Pokemon Company are always keen to reinforce.

  3. How do you receive these Pokemon though through Wi-Fi or code?

    • You need to visit a local GAME store, and they’ll provide you with the codes!
