Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo 3DS family of systems will soon add a new member, the New Nintendo 2DS XL.
Nintendo is introducing the new model to provide “consumers a new choice that fits between the Nintendo 2DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL systems,” the clamshell-design moving away from the standard Nintendo 2DS.
With Black + Turquoise and White + Orange colours, it will use the same large screens seen with the New Nintendo 3DS XL, but, as the name implies, will remove the stereoscopic 3D effect meaning that visuals will only be displayed in 2D.
The system is lighter in comparison to the New Nintendo 3DS XL, but still “packs the same power,” has built-in NFC support for amiibo and can play New Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS games.
The New Nintendo 2DS XL will release in Europe and North America on July 28th, priced at $149.99.
