You will be faced with Infinity Trials in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, revealed as part of an exclusive hands-on preview in this month’s Game Informer magazine.
These are optional challenges that you will come across as you progress in the main story, accessed through rifts that will warp your team to another location.
They present you with new twists on battle encounters, with examples given such as a wave battle in which you must defeat 200 Hydra agents, being forced to use abilities and synergies as your standard attacks do less damage, or beating up enemies within a time limit – those that you knock out adding precious seconds to the timer.
Midway through the Nintendo Switch exclusive, you will unlock a feature that will let you access Infinity Trials from the main menu. And, you will want to do so, as completing them or achieving objectives will unlock rare rewards.
“We provided these Infinity Trials as a way for players to focus on characters that they really want to build up and make stronger,” Team Ninja director Hiroya Usuda explained.
“You put players in different situations with lots of different rules and they’ll fight enemies in certain combinations that they wouldn’t see in the storyline. In addition, there are rewards that you will only be able to acquire in these trials.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on July 19th.
