GAME Group announce Nintendo 3DS midnight launch plans

Today, GAME and Gamestation have announced that they are to open 482 of their stores for midnight launches across the UK tomorrow night, as the retailer marks the anticipated release of the Nintendo 3DS handheld system on Friday.

GAME’s flagship store on Oxford Street, London is also due to host a special event with comedian, gamer and Nintendo fan-boy, Iain Lee joining customers to countdown to the moment they are able to get their hands on the glasses-free 3D gaming device.

The first 100 people in the queue for the Oxford Street store will be able to claim one free Nintendo 3DS game, with further freebies for consumers ranging from Nintendo t-shirts and midnight snacks that will be handed out throughout the evening. The first person in the queue will also receive a free taxi ride home, so that they can get stuck into their gaming as fast as possible.

This will also happen at the special Nintendo launches at:
* GAME Glasgow (Sauchiehall Street),
* GAME Cardiff (St Davids),
* GAME Manchester (Trafford Centre),
* Gamestation Birmingham (New Street)
* Gamestation Hull (Prospect Centre).

Further to this, each of the 482 stores opening at midnight will give away a free Nintendo 3DS console to one lucky customer, with each person in the queue receiving a raffle ticket and a winner will be drawn at random on the night.

“Thursday night is a must-attend moment for Nintendo fans – the 3DS is a stunning piece of gaming tech which impresses everyone who plays it,” comments Neil Ashurst, Head of UK PR for GAME.

“We are opening 482 of our stores at midnight to allow our customers to be the first to get their hands on it. Whatever store they go to, we will be offering a free 3DS console for one lucky individual so it’s definitely worth turning up for midnight!”
